Who we are
Dot Hotel (dothotel.app, its API and the dothotel CLI) is run by Vizentro (“we”, “us”). We decide how the data below is used. Privacy questions or requests: privacy@vizentro.com. Anything else: support@vizentro.com.
What we collect
- Your account. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which holds your email address and login details. From Clerk we keep your name, profile picture, and the handle, display name and bio you choose.
- What you publish. Rooms you write, every version of them, and the changelogs. Published rooms and your profile are public.
- What you do here. Rooms you save, check-ins (which room, which version, and whether you copied, downloaded a skill or a plugin), and reports you file, including any details you type. Reviewers’ decisions and notes are kept too.
- Signed-out visitors. To count check-ins without double counting, we store a one-way hash of your IP address and browser user agent that changes every day. We can’t turn it back into your IP. IP addresses are also used briefly to rate-limit requests.
- Forms. If you sign up for the newsletter, your email. If you join the teams waitlist, your email, name, company, team size and the answers you give.
- Your browser. A few cookies and saved settings that keep the site working. See Cookies and browser storage below.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, URL) to deliver and protect the site.
How we use it
- To run Dot Hotel: sign you in, show your rooms and profile, keep your key ring and count check-ins.
- To keep it safe: review rooms, handle reports, stop spam and abuse, and enforce the terms.
- To get in touch: send the newsletter you asked for, reply to teams waitlist sign-ups, and send notices about your account or these policies.
We don’t sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Where the law asks for a legal basis, ours are: running the service you asked for (contract), keeping it safe and working (legitimate interests), and your consent for the newsletter, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else sees it
- Everyone can see published rooms, your handle, display name, avatar, bio and the rooms on your profile. Rooms are shared under CC BY 4.0, so people may copy them elsewhere, and we can’t recall those copies.
- Our service providers, who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and database) and Clerk (accounts and sign-in).
- Authorities, if the law requires it or it’s needed to protect people or the service.
- A buyer or successor, if Dot Hotel is sold or merged, under the same promises as this policy.
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Account: until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your profile and key ring and unlinks your check-ins and reports from you. Rooms you published and reviews you wrote stay up, credited to “A former guest”. If you want them taken down too, email us.
- Newsletter and teams waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Visitor hashes and logs: only as long as needed for counting and security.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile and delete your account in Settings. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email privacy@vizentro.com and we’ll answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and browser storage
We only store what’s needed to run the site or to remember a choice you made. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and nothing here follows you to other sites. Because all of it is strictly necessary or something you asked for, we don’t show a cookie banner.
| What | Set by | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
Sign-in cookies (__session, __client_uat and similar) | Clerk | Keep you signed in and protect your account | Your session, or until you sign out |
Bot-protection cookie (__cf_bm), when active | Cloudflare | Tell people from bots and block abuse | 30 minutes |
| Theme (light or dark) | Dot Hotel, in your browser’s local storage | Remember the theme you picked | Until you clear it |
| Rooms view (grid or list) | Dot Hotel, in your browser’s local storage | Remember how you like to browse rooms | Until you clear it |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block Clerk’s cookies you won’t be able to sign in, but you can still browse and check in to rooms. If we ever add cookies that aren’t strictly necessary, we’ll update this section and ask for your consent first.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS, sign-in is handled by Clerk, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t put passwords, API keys or other secrets in a room.
Children
Dot Hotel isn’t meant for children under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and for significant changes we’ll give notice on the site or by email.
